The Bangkok Atlas guide
Dusit
ดุสิต — The royal garden district
Dusit is Bangkok at its most stately: the boulevards Rama V laid out on European lines, the Marble Temple's Carrara cloister, ministries behind old walls, and barracks parades at dawn. It is green, low, quiet and almost entirely without nightlife — which is precisely its appeal. Thewet's flower market and riverside guesthouses give the district its softest corner, where the old city exhales before the river.
Getting around
No rail here — the river boats at Thewet and taxis carry the district.
