Thon Buri & Talat Phlu
ธนบุรี–ตลาดพลู — The capital before the capital
Old Thonburi: Talat Phlu's food market, canal-side temples and the railway that starts the trip to Maeklong.
Thonburi was Siam's capital before Bangkok existed, and it never stopped being itself: Talat Phlu's century-old food street still draws night pilgrims for mee krob and kanom bueang, the Wongwian Yai terminus still sends wooden-seat trains toward the Mae Klong markets, and temple bells still set the schedule. The BTS has brought new towers, but the district's soul remains firmly, deliciously old-world.
