★★Worth it·Budget airport
Don Mueang Airport
สนามบินดอนเมือง
The old airport reborn as the budget hub — AirAsia and friends. SRT Dark Red Line runs straight there; allow traffic time otherwise.
One of the world's oldest operating airports, open since 1914, and Bangkok's budget-carrier hub — AirAsia, Nok and friends. The SRT Dark Red Line stops at Don Mueang station, a covered skywalk from Terminal 2 (allow 10–15 minutes more from Terminal 1): ride it to Krung Thep Aphiwat and change to the MRT. The A1 bus to BTS Mo Chit and metered taxis are the alternatives. Terminal 1 is international, Terminal 2 domestic.

Using it
- Rail and boat services run to headways rather than published minute-by-minute timetables; the atlas quotes typical times, never a schedule.
- Stored-value cards work within a single operator, not across all of them.
