King Rama IX Park
สวนหลวง ร.9
A huge botanical park out east — worth the trip.
One of Bangkok's largest parks, laid out for Rama IX's sixtieth birthday — a botanical garden, a great lake, and themed international gardens that fill with families on weekends. December's flower festival is one of the city's best shows, and park entry is just 10 baht. It's a trek east, which is exactly why it stays calm.

Using the park
- Bangkok's public parks generally run about 04:30 to 21:00 — the city exercises before the heat and after it.
- Midday is punishing from March to May; dawn and the hour before dusk are what these spaces are for.
- Water monitors are residents, not an emergency. Give them room and they'll ignore you.
