So Heng Tai Mansion
บ้านโซวเฮงไถ่
A 19th-century Hokkien courtyard house in Talat Noi, still lived in by the builder's descendants.
Phra Aphaiwanit, a Hokkien bird's-nest tax farmer, built this courtyard house by the river in Talat Noi, and his descendants still live here. A pool added to the courtyard in 2004 is used for scuba lessons. It's a private home, so admire the gate and tiled roofs from the lane and don't count on going in.

Before you go
- City landmarks draw crowds from mid-morning; first hour after opening is the calm one.
