Mahakan Fort
ป้อมมหากาฬ
One of two surviving 1783 city-wall forts, whitewashed and cannon-studded opposite the Golden Mount — a two-minute detour on any old-town walk.
The white octagonal fort on the old city wall, facing the Golden Mount across the canal — the evicted village behind it is now lawn. Sunset gilds both.

Before you go
- City landmarks draw crowds from mid-morning; first hour after opening is the calm one.
- Several sit inside active religious or royal compounds — the temple dress rule applies there too.
Check opening hours, ticket prices and any closure for ceremonies when you arrive — we have no verified official site for this one.
