★★Worth it·Riverside bar strip
Phra Athit Road
ถนนพระอาทิตย์
The riverside strip of live-music bars where Thai students and artists drink — the local leg of Banglamphu's night triangle, ten minutes and a world from Khao San.
The bars here grew up around Silpakorn and Thammasat students and lecturers, and the acoustic-guitar DNA survives. Walk the fort end at sunset and pick whichever bar's music leaks best onto the pavement.

A night out here
- These streets are at their busiest from about 21:00 onwards.
- Agree a price before anything starts, keep your belongings close, and treat any drink you didn't watch being poured with suspicion.
- Metered taxis and ride apps are the reliable way home late; tuk-tuk quotes at closing time are theatre.
