★★Worth it·Big Buddha
Wat Paknam
วัดปากน้ำ
The 69-meter Buddha rising over Thonburi's khlong-side rooftops, with the emerald-green stupa ceiling that broke Instagram. Worth the trip west.
The 69-meter Buddha rising over Phasi Charoen's rooftops, with the separate Maha Chedi Maharatchamongkhon nearby — its emerald-glass ceiling a swirling green cosmos that fills every feed. Take the khlong boat or MRT to Bang Phai; go on a weekday morning to have the cosmos to yourself.

Visiting a temple
- Shoulders and knees covered, for everyone. Sarongs are usually available at the gate, sometimes for a small deposit.
- Shoes come off before you step into an ordination hall — watch what everyone else is doing at the threshold.
- Most compounds open early, around 08:00, and close by 17:00–18:00; the major ones charge foreign visitors a small entry fee.
- Early morning is cooler, quieter and far better light than midday.
