★★Worth it·Heritage pier & Mazu shrine

Lhong 1919

ล้ง 1919

An 1850 Chinese steamer pier and warehouse court on the Thonburi bank, with a Mazu shrine at its heart.

Built in 1850 as Huay Chung Lhong, a landing for steamers from China and Malaya, the courtyard of warehouses passed to the Wanglee family in 1919. It opened to visitors after restoration in 2017 and now calls itself 'The Lhong 1919 Riverside Heritage Destination'. The focal point is the shrine to Mazu, goddess of the sea, with old murals in the wings and a river terrace out front. Pair it with Wat Thong Nopphakhun, 200 m south.
