Memorial Bridge
สะพานพุทธ
The first road bridge across the Chao Phraya (1932), floodlit steel beside the flower market — Saphan Phut to every taxi driver.
Saphan Phut — the green steel bascule bridge Rama VII opened in 1932 to bind the two banks. Floodlit at night beside the flower market, it's the old river crossing at its most photogenic. A multi-year restoration, with a full closure phase, is planned.

Checked 10 Oct 2026 against tatnews.org, openstreetmap.org, wikidata.org, thestandard.co. Things change: closures for royal ceremonies and holidays are common.
Before you go
- City landmarks draw crowds from mid-morning; first hour after opening is the calm one.
- Several sit inside active religious or royal compounds — the temple dress rule applies there too.
Check opening hours, ticket prices and any closure for ceremonies when you arrive — we have no verified official site for this one.
